Iona Silverbacks Brunch
The Silverbacks group has been created to celebrate our former students who have reached 50 years or more since their graduation year, and this year we will be proud to officially welcome the Class of 1975 to this very exclusive club!
All Iona Silverbacks (who graduated from the College between 1963 and 1975) are invited to join us for this special occasion to celebrate Iona’s history and tradition, and your special contribution to the Iona story, by joining us this Sunday 12 October.
Ionian Insights: Financial Services Sector
Tickets are now on sale for our inaugural ‘Ionian Insights’ networking event hosted by the Iona Old Boys Association. This event welcomes all members of the Iona community - not just our Old Boys.
The first Ionian Insights evening is less than two weeks away, so you will have to be quick!
Focusing on the financial services sector, and hosted at Morgans Financial at Riverside on Eagle Street in Brisbane, Ionian Insights will feature guest speakers and Old Boys David Anderson (QIC), Rob Shears (Wilsons Advisory), Jason Orthman (Hyperion) and moderator Matthew MacDonald (Morgans).
Tickets are just $50, including drinks and canapes, but are strictly limited.
The Ionian Insight series aims to connect our community working in similar industries to create a network of Ionian professionals. Equally, it is a chance for younger Ionians – currently completing Year 12 or studying at university – to meet and learn from fellow Ionians working in the industries they aspire to.
To assist our younger Ionians, the Iona Old Boys Association is pleased to offer a discounted ticket price of $25 to tertiary students, and complimentary entry to Year 12 Ionians accompanied by a paying adult.

Iona College Old Boy Achievement Awards
Nominations for the 2025 Iona College Old Boy Achievement Awards are now open.
Proudly presented by the Iona Old Boys Association, these awards honour the accomplishments of our alumni and recognise the positive impact they have made in their professional fields, personal endeavours, and wider communities since leaving Iona.
Each year, two Old Boys are acknowledged – one senior Old Boy (40 years and over) and one young Old Boy (under 40) to celebrate demonstrated achievement, commitment to service, and the embodiment of the Oblate values that remain central to the mission of Iona College.
Last year, we were delighted to acknowledge and honour Australian Paralympian Daniel Fox (Class of 2009) and Queensland Director of Public Prosecutions Todd Fuller KC (Class of 1984).
Both Daniel and Todd represent the very best of our Old Boys as men of outstanding achievement, deep character, and enduring humanity.
